Mental Secrets For Sales Success

Here is a motto that sales professionals should take heed of: "Seek and you will find."

One way of interpreting the meaning of this has to do with the way we program our minds to take in information.

Look for how you are demonstrating sales success and you will see how you are succeeding.

Look for how you are failing at sales and you will see how you are failing. It doesn't much matter how much selling success you have achieved, because even the most successful salespeople can feel inadequate if they look for reasons to feel that way.

When you don't reach a sale-closing, or even when you fail to get passed a gate-keeper, trust that you are still on a positive sales course and you will find your trust justified. Worry that your sales career is headed for a nose-dive and you are bound to see evidence to support that fear.

Sales pros need regular sales trainings that help them to:

1. Clear out and stay clear of negative thinking habits
2. Cultivate ever-deeper conviction in the rightness of who they are and what they are Selling.

Success in sales demands mastering the mind's power.

You have to genuinely BELIEVE in what you are selling to make the selling process a positive and successful experience.

While sales trainers often emphasize the power of positive thinking in their sales courses, cultivating the all-important belief in what you are doing demands understanding the power of NEGATIVE thinking.

Believing in what you are doing, deep down inside, requires casting out any doubt that would dampen your enthusiasm.

Think about all that is RIGHT about your what you are selling.

But it is just as essential to NOT think about all that you can conceive of being wrong with what you are selling.

Success is really a mental game.

You cannot experience yourself succeeding in sales without conceiving of yourself succeeding.

In other words you must think: "I am succeeding because this person is buying."

But you can also think, "I am failing because this person is not buying the whole package."

The same think applies to WHAT you are selling.

You have to conceive of how it is of value to believe in it.

But nothing is perfect. You can easily conceive of the flaws.

Once you decide to sell something, don't second guess yourself. Stick by your decision.

Discipline your mind to stay clear of lines of thinking that discourage you.

Routinely nurture your belief in what you are selling by thinking about the value of it.

Keep your mind open and look deeper and deeper, to develop more insight into the value, for that deepens your belief.

Your attitude is contagious. The more you believe in what you are selling, the more your prospect or client will believe in it.

The most successful salespeople put themselves through mental sales training.

They make it their daily discipline to:

1. Remain aware of what they are thinking.
2. Let go of thoughts that discourage them.
3. Explore more and more reasons to believe in what they are selling.

Success in selling depends upon developing a sales success mindset. Don't wait for your Director of Sales to offer you a sales course. Turn each day into your own mental sales training.
